Hot Dog!

I did not have much ambition this morning, since it was a swim day. While I usually sleep in, Frankie was downstairs yowling her head off. Tommy was out of the house for an appointment. She is not handling being alone well since her surgery. But now she is almost totally healed, so the babying needs to stop. Not wanting to reinforce her vocalization, I waited until she got quiet for at least five minutes, then went downstairs. Things are slowly normalizing. Hopefully there will be time tomorrow to bring that big pile of sheets and the air mattress back up to the attic. At least I managed to put together an easy outfit for a hot day. The shirt and shoes are thrifted, and the glasses frames are from a garage sale. The capris are Walmart, and the sneakers thrifted. Sometimes you need to go retail to find the basics. I get a lot of wear out of these.

Frankie is almost back to normal. Her appetite is coming returning, and she is moving like normal -- as seen in her sploot from this morning. She wouldn't be stretched out like this if her abdomen didn't feel fine. She is also back to unmaking bets with a vengeance.

While I own plenty of clothes, this summer has been so very hot, and it's the first one I've had since Frankie was a baby where we weren't travelling for shows. My love for linen was not practical when living out of an overnight bag, and spending hours working around dogs. While I've been looking for good pieces on thrift mark downs, I'd had little luck. That changed yesterday. I can't wait to get this load washed and hung out to dry -- tomorrow! Three linen shirts, a stretchy wrap for my long stretchy dresses (like yesterday), two capris (one linen), and a pair of slacks (cotton). The clothing plus a picture frame came to $28. Often, when it comes to thrifting, it's feast or famine. This was a feast!

It was another Flashfood dinner night. Not being able to sleep last night, I hopped on the app and saw that there was both a deal on hotdogs and buns. Two different stores, but within blocks of one another. Tops also had a great deal on pistachios, which Tommy loves. While I wanted to buy out the entire stock, I settled on just ordering three. These are shelled and flavored with jalapeno lime. Ff has better produce than Tops, so when I saw a bin of spinach with a good-by date of the 24th, I wasn't afraid to buy it. It's in the salad I made tonight (which started with what we didn't finish last night). We'll be eating a lot of healthy greens this week. The pound cake was worth it since we do eat dessert, and it was cheaper to buy than to make since butter is so expensive! The hotdogs had to come home because the man has been longing for them, and I aim to please. Plus, it was a cheap meal :-)

I have finished the day with a batch of sourdough. There is no yeast in this at all (sometimes I do add it), so it will take more time to rise. That's OK by me, because I am heading to bed! I will check in with everyone's blog in the morning. Hopefully I will be able to get to sleep early so we can get up and go to the bakery for breakfast while it's still in the A.M.

I hope you had a super Tuesday!

  1. Carey just told me he's going to the store in the morning...I think I'll have him get hot dogs and buns. :)

I love it when I see Rudy sploot. JRs hind legs are so muscular, I always think they look like frog legs, splooting just amplifies it. Glad Frankie is feeling almost back to normal.
