Swimming, Shopping, and Signing
I look more like a senior soccer mom than a suburban grandmother today. I guess it was a bit sportier to be wearing stripes, capris, and boat shoes. It's just nice to be sassy and have a bit of a tan too.
I wore gold earrings to the pool today and kept them in while I swam. These silicone backings help protect my bathing cap from post backs, which can sometimes cause a tear. They also help keep butterfly backs on. I lost a gold moissanite stud on Monday but am holding out hope it fell out in the house. Or else unfortunately someone in the restaurant we dined at picked it up and kept it rather than turning it in. Turns out the silicone backing and butterfly clutch fell out of my earring at the pool. But I realized it while the earring was still in place. After a short back-track, I found the gold backing. Losing two earrings in one week would not be acceptable!
My plan was to have a souvlaki-type wrap for dinner, so I went to Aldi for naan bread. To make it worth the trip, I picked up a few other things. These are the type of regular items we eat a lot of. They had EVOO for a good price, so I grabbed two bottles. While I don't like to waste money or overspend on food, I like a healthy diet. That's why I buy things like cold smoked salmon. Flashfood is great, but there are pantry basics we still need to buy.
The wraps were delicious. Unlike a gyro or your traditional souvlaki wrap, I included pepper. While I could've bought tzatziki, it's better to make it. We will use the Greek yogurt for many other things. Best of all, we have fresh dill and basil in the garden. This was made using some of the frozen leftover chicken from our party. We will need a quick and easy dinner tomorrow, so it's good that there are two more pieces of bread left!
There is another protest tomorrow, so we will be there. Since it is the fourth of July, I am going with a patriotic protest theme featuring the Grateful Dead. Back in 1973, they wrote the song "Wave That Flag," which later became "U.S. Blues." It was a criticism of Nixon, the Vietnam War, and other issues which we are sadly facing again today. This is the front. I am almost done with the back. I'll show that tomorrow.
It is beyond discouraging to see The House, passed that butt-ugly big bill. This will make life more expensive for us, and catastrophic for others. Any time I can stand up for the values being discarded under the current administration I will. Is there an event near you? Are you planning anything?
I am very disappointed that the bill passed. Time will tell h the impact it will have on all of us. Nothing special planned here today, although my daughter will be celebrating at a friends home and did invite me, but I’ll stay instead. Your dinner wrap looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI would rather stay home most holidays too!
DeleteI can't believe we are in this place in this country. It will impact everyone negatively, but especially the most vulnerable among us. I'm ashamed of this country right now :(
ReplyDeleteWe have dark times ahead. The structure of it is that the worst won't kick in until after the midterms, so voters might not realize the worse in 2026.
DeleteBack in high school in Ontario, I will age myself here and say Nixon was president at the time, most of us wore "Nixon drinks Canada dry" buttons. I wonder what we would be wearing now, or would we be as into protesting even in that small way.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Just change the name on that button and it would be accurate! I can't believe how much both of our nations are screwed. Ugh!
