It's All Markdowned!

Cheese pizza for dinner! I made it with Flashfood fresh mozzarella cheese.  The 00 super-fine gourmet dough was FF too.  My sauce was home made.  The entire pie was probably only about five bucks to make.

For dessert, pumpkin ice cream.  The base was Flashfood half and half, and the flavoring was FF pumpkin pudding.  Two pints cost me about three bucks to make.

I am always trying to make dog food economically.  One thing I don't skimp on, is the powdered calcium used to balance out the protein. But everthing else is usually something I've found on sale. Last week I found three trays of "Special Today" ground pork. I had a quart bag of beef, venison liver, pureed pumpkin and oat flour, which also went into the mix.  Most of the meat was given to me.  I also used plantains and butternut squash that I bought through Flashfood. Everything had been fresh, then frozen.  The bag holder was one of those things I found at a steep markdown while checking out the Manager's Special table one day while picking up a FF order.  It holds my vacumm seal bag open and upright, so it is easier to fill.  I cooked the food in my oven using the air sous-vide function.

While I didn't get too much done today, what I did get done was a good value. It probably seems a bit crazy for me to always be ordering stuff through Flashfood, but I use it and it's cheap.

One extravagant thing I did do, was order a pressure canner. I've wanted one for a while and just bit the bullet and did it. Maybe I'll have to start looking more closely at the Flashfood produce boxes.

And I did make up a batch of sour dough to make focaccia tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed on how it will rise because I used both white and brown rice flour. We were invited to a St. Patrick's day event and I plan to bring flatbread with green olives and capers (which will be a green contriution). I hope it rises OK! Do you have St. Patrick's Day plans?
