What a Wednesday!

This was the Cobb Salad I ordered for lunch. I went out with my friend Paula.  It was so big, I only at 2/3 of it. Mostly because I got bored with all of the chewing involved!

I buy dog toys at Dollar Tree if they are not made by Greenbrier Interational (their cheap brand).  They are kept on hand to give to friends when we meet up.  This is for my friend's two dogs.  Do you notice a theme?  The hotdog toy is keeping with the fact I own a dog named "Frankie" (she has a hotdog costume too!).  The ketchup goes with the hotdog -- one toy for each dog.  And of course, treats. It is my equivalent of a hostess gift.

Winter is over for my bed. The flannel sheets are off and I put the cotton ones back on.  Frankie promptly messed it all up! I think she might have been the one to rip the top sheet, but she is not in trouble. That sheet is very old, and the fitted bottom sheet got torn up last year.  I decided to sew the rip and try to get a little more time out of the sheet. I love soft 100% cotton -- and the more it is washed and worn, the softer it gets.  I just stitched it up and need to do a little more creative patching over that.  Better and newer sheets go on the bed if there's a guest sleeping over!

This is an entirely thrifted outfit. Well, except for the jewelry. I wanted to dress for spring.  The shoes are Aigner, very retro. The belt is $1 Goodwill. Everything else was a buck too -- the linen jacket, cotton shirt, yellow t-shirt.  I probably paid three bucks for the Kenneth Cole cross-body.  My jewelry was largely pearls. I do have on an amethyst ring, which my lunch date, Paula, gave to me last year because it no longer fit her.  What was unfortunate, was that it was not a sunny day -- way too cold for what I chose to wear! I am going to wear this combo again as I really like it.

I changed the linen jacket for a denim one. Starting at the bottom, is a pair of Sketcher Go-Walk shoes that were 50 cents at a church basement second-hand shop. The jacket is a Papagallo,  which I probably paid three bucks for. It was cold enough to need gloves. I wore this to walk Frankie.

It was a bountiful Flashfood day. I put the order with the four items in at a store on the way to Paula's house. Then after lunch she wanted to stop into another Tops. I checked what they had, and placed another order.  I will eat those scones for breakfast the next four days.  The garlic biscuits will be enjoyed with gravy and the brats tomorrow night for dinner.  Tommy loves pumpernickel bread, so that is for him.  As for the sweets, we like dessert!  And we have cheese and crackers most nights -- and I love buying crackers on sale.  While at the store, I noticed marked-down doggy bandannas for 49 cents, so I grabbed three for Frankie.

There is a Big Lots in the plaza adjacent to one of the Tops, which I stopped at on my way home. Everything was between 50 and 70 percent off (the store is closing), with an additional 10 percent if you bought ten items.  I was actually practical.  The facial masks worked out to being 65 cents for a pack of two -- so way cheaper than at Dollar Tree.  That's the kind of logic I use before buying.  The large compost container has been on my wish-list for some time.  It looks better and holds more than the mason jar I had been using -- and it was four bucks.  The hangers were originally $8.99, but 60% off and then an additional 10%.  I really need these, so finding them on sale was great. I saved a lot over what they would normally sell for too. As for the bottle stoppers, I love the rubber ones that were 90 cents each. They give a complete seal, so you're safe if the bottle tips over or needs to be stored on its side. I also use it to re-cork champagne. I put the wire cage over it, so it won't pop out.  All of this merchandise was $20.  Everything in this house is purchased on sale...

This is my $16 Goodwill haul.  Clear glass pitchers are a favorite of mine. When we have overnight guests, they go upstairs with ice water at night.  They fit in with all of our dishes -- the fancy and the plain.  At $2.99, this one had to come home with me.  As for the vase, I wasn't sure I should get it. But I thought it would be nice in our backyard because we have a black, white, and red theme. But there is also a sitting area with gray cushions.  Imagine my delight when I got home and set it next to the four-dollar pillow from Big Lots.  As for the clothes, the white studded shirt was half priced at three bucks, and is Boston Proper, which is a good brand.  The blue top was also three bucks and is for my young lady.  The white hat is for me!

Dinner was a chili casserole. The dip was FF yesterday and purchased for this specific purpose. It was the basis for a crunchy top to the casserole. I got the cheap chips and cheese at Save-a-Lot.  There was enough chili yesterday, that we froze half of what was left and set aside the other half for me to make the casserole tonight.  As for the chips, I have wanted to share my cheap bag-clip hack.  I get a set of Clorox plastic clothespins at Dollar Tree. I think there are six to a card. This is a lot cheaper than buying bag clips, and they work just as well!

It seems like all I do is shop, but at least I buy inexpensively!  Did you find any great deals today?
