Much-a-Do on Monday
I started the day off with my last biscuit. And I am going to have to make more! It's easy to forget how awesome biscuits are until you start making them again. Mine was with butter and apricot jam.
I wore burgundy and gray today. The grey sweater is a double-ply cashmere thrifted years ago. It is so soft and comfortable. The burgundy top was acquired this year for 99 cents. It is a silk and merino blend, with a Nordstrom's label. I chose this outfit specifically for dog walking. My shoes were an estate sale find for two bucks. They are not leather, but made for service work, so they are durable. The rubber non-slip soles are great for rainy days -- but today was warm and sunny! Jewelry today was diamonds and garnet, with a set of pearls, in gold. I wore Tommy's ID bracelet from a highschool girlfriend. It was warm enough for me to take the sweater off and tie it around my waist. A beautiful day!

While there were no good Flashfood deals today, I did do just fine stopping in at Save-a-Lot on the way home. Ground pork was marked down to $1.99 a pound and will be used for dog food later this week. I spend around $1 - $1.50 per day to feed Frankie. My goal is to find meat for around $1.99 per pound. If we were to purchase comparable food from The Farmer's Dog, it would be a small fortune. Finding deals is what makes it affordable.
I love my bling but will only buy if it's a good deal. I have listed the various types of clear stones that can be a credible and pretty diamond alternative. White sapphire is one of my favorites because it sparkles, stays clear, is durable, and very affordable since it is a lab-grown stone. This bracelet was a jtv.com special deal for around $20. It's sterling silver. My sister-in-law is retiring and being given a party. This will be our gift to her. And to me too... because I got one for myself! Hey... it was a good deal. The nice thing with a bolo bracelet is the size is always right.
Dinner was chicken vegetable lasagna (I started it yesterday), and pizza. I had a partial log of mozzarella to use up and also got three bags of pizza dough through Flashfood yesterday. I don't usually buy pre-made dough, but this was made with 00 super-fine flour, which is more expensive. At a buck and a half, it was worth it to buy it already made. It was topped with some of the marinara I made yesterday -- so it was a very affordable meal. There's plenty for Tommy to take for lunch this week too.
Wow, what a great spring day it was! Was your day as lovely too?
So glad to find your Blog after you visited mine from a shared Fav Blogger, Vix. Your Food Porn looks delicious and you did really well with the Thrifting gods being on your side.
ReplyDeleteI had a tiring day as I had to go to the eye Dr for an 8:15 appointment, which meant I was up at 5 to shower in order to leave an hour earlier for the drive there. At least it is only once a year. I did stop at the thrift store next door and bought two shirts for myself and looked at all their goods. It is so much fun. We miss SA’s 99 cent deal on Thursday (here) too. I hope they bring it back some day. Your chicken and pizza look delicious.
ReplyDeleteThat burgundy jumper is a fantastic colour on you, you look so pretty in it and I hope your troll is seething with anger just looking at those photos!
ReplyDeleteFrankie is gorgeous and so spirited.
Great scores in the thrifts (don't I sound American?) In the UK, Wayfair donate their unsold stock to the Shelter charity shop which raises money for the homeless which is wonderfully altruistic.
We've had a smashing day, too - glorious sunshine, if a bit chilly, an early swim, a lunchtime trip to the cinema, finding an incredible vintage Indian dress in a charity shop! xxx
