What We Wore

Today, "What I Wore" features Frankie.  She is finally wearing "heat pants."  I have been waiting months for her to go into heat! The general cycle for most females has them coming into season every six months.  My girl goes in about once a year.  Because it could've happened at any time in the past few months, it is a relief to have it here.  This will be her last cycle.  After this, she will be spayed.  I want to get her back into daycare for socializing, and for that she can't be intact.  She has benefited from the hormones associated with having a uterus and ovaries.  And now we will prevent the chances of uterine cancer.  One of my breeders likes to see the girls have a few heat cycles, whether they will breed or not. But buy 4 or 5 (no later than 6), he likes them spayed.  This will end her career in the show ring for now. Once she is 7, she can go back in as a veteran.

Finding heat pants that fit is nearly impossible because she is long, skinny, and leggy.  That meant we needed to buy a large. I took in the waist, but it still wasn't enough.  A bandanna around her waist solved the problem.  While I was putting panty liners in these, she tore them out.  They are absorbent anyway.  That means I can wash them each night. She doesn't wear them at night (we crate her), or while she is outside. I have two pairs to alternate. Another tough thing is that with a docked tail, the panties slide out of place because her tail doesn't stay in the opening.  However, as far as other aspects in life go (like getting in and out of a car), I really like her stubby butt.  She will be wearing these pants for at least a week.  Once she is done bleeding, she will be in the most fertile part of her cycle. We won't have her off leash anywhere.

It was a pool day for me. I chose white and gray for my ensemble.  The shirt and shoes were thrifted.  Boy I can't wait to get color on my legs. They are just so white and pale!

Dinner was linguini topped with the sauce I made yesterday. The bread on the side was the rest of the pizza dough flat bread from Sunday.  There is enough sauce left for me to make a pot of chili.  I don't know about you, but I could eat linguini and a red/tomato-based sauce every day!

It was a simple day for me.  Pool and dog walking, plus a load of laundry. Aren't simple days the best?

  2. As I walked to get the mail today, I looked at my pasty white legs and thought, "Man I need to get outside more."
Glad you found heat pants and could get them with some minor adjustments to work.

    God bless.

    1. I tried bronzer/fake tanner once. Not a good look...

I had to order the pants on-line. Finding them retail is impossible, and I haven't been going to dog shows lately. I will give them away after this for another Britanny, who all have the same sizing problem. The stitches I put in can be easily pulled out.
