Always Looking

Not a lot to post about for today, since it was Thursday and I spent a couple of hours at the pool. My attire was, again, suburban grandma. While I wanted to wear wedge sandals, I knew I'd be doing some shopping on the way home.  None of these pieces were from any notable brand. Just a bunch of 99 cent pieces.

Most of my jewelry really was inexpensive. The only "real" piece is my diamond necklace, which I never take off. The other necklace was a dollar from a garage sale. The dangle earrings are mystery metal and from a friend. The single pearls are gold filled. You can't really tell the expensive from the inexpensive -- which is how I like it!

I am not the type of person to stick to a list but instead am always looking for a bargain. We are out of white flour, but Aldi only sells the bleached kind. I did buy a few trays of chicken breasts because I am going to skewer them for our party next week. Luckily, Tops is across the street from Aldi, and I knew I could get my flour there. While I was at it, I got bread flour too. Since we are going to have chili tomorrow, I decided to buy some queso to top it. Whenever I am in Tops, I check out the clearance shelves to see if there's any markdown that didn't go to the FlashFood program. Today I found a large container of coffee -- something I am stocking my tariff shelf with. It was worth it to buy it at half price. I do always Google to make sure the original price isn't falsely inflated. It wasn't

The thing is, no one can tell if you are wearing, cooking, or otherwise serving mark downs. So it's always worthwhile to be on the lookout!

  1. My clothes are mostly second hand too, and I love them. I like wearing Birkentocks when I'm out and about. They're so comfy!

    1. Oh Nicole, I wish I could find Birkenstocks at thrift stores -- or even at a decent sale price. I would definitely wear them too!

  2. I only buy a few Statement Pieces and mix them with the Thrifty Finds too, the Thrill of the Hunt is my Juice to find a Bargain and a Statement Piece, is always worth whatever is spent on it IMO, so you only need a few.

    1. That's a great plan. I wish I could find better statement/quality warm weather pieces. Especially more linen. That's really the Holy Grail for me!

  3. I don't think you look suburban grandma at all. You always look so put together. My jewelry everyday consists of my wedding ring, engagement ring, anniversary ring, and the diamond band I purchased to remind me of my father. I also quite often wear my birthstone ring.

    God bless.

    1. You are so kind, Jackie. I am also actually wearing less of my other necklaces now that I have the one made from my engagement ring.

  5. You definitely don't look like a typical grandma! I buy what I love, mostly second hand but occasionally new if its from a small business with proven ethical practices. xxx

    1. When I buy new, I often end up disappointed. It's hard to be let down when the price second hand is so low! I am kind of lacking in the panache department -- but I do have you for inspiration!
