Getting Things Ready
Just getting things done! Today I sprayed and wiped down all of the kitchen cabinets and started sourdough. The loaf will probably be ready to bake tomorrow. Have I posted about Frankie's feeding station? It is made from a drawer out of an old kitchen cabinet and topped with a spare plank of flooring.
The Big Guy stood in line to get our order at a local bakery cafe this morning. He said once he retired, he'd like to go there once a week for breakfast. The plan was to walk, but it rained today. Since it's counter service, there is no tipping. That keeps the price down, so it's a splurge I am all for. And my cinnamon bun was delicious!
I wore a black shirt and shoes yesterday, and a white shirt and white sneakers today. Since I was only dressed to leave the house for a couple of hours yesterday, it wasn't worth it to put the skorts away. I just wore them again today while out for breakfast. We also did some grocery and supply shopping for our party this weekend. It's turning into a bigger event than originally planned. 35 - 40 are expected.
It was time to simplify the dining room tablescape. If it rains on Saturday (fingers crossed it will not), we will need to seat people there. The table in front of the window holds items that often get staged on the dining room table or kitchen island. Arrangements in the vase often get used outside for entertaining too.
The shrimp alfredo for dinner gave me an opportunity to use the remainder of a bag of shrimp in from the freezer. Flashfood had the sauce (Rana) for $2.62 -- a cheap and easy dinner!
The heat over the past two days has been horrific -- I hope others experiencing it have a way to escape. Be safe and thoughtful for those who can't afford or don't have access to cooling or hydration. I hope you are well!
