Easing into Full Retirement

I dress to go out but often change back to work or exercise clothes once back at home. That way, my clothes don't get as dirty or smelly -- and don't need to be washed as often. My out-of-the-house time was spent at the vet. Frankie had an exam to get her presurgical evaluation. Since it's a physical, I asked them to reset the time that we do her annual exam to time off this. Her rabies shot was a few months early, but it makes more sense to do it at the annual check-up. Her procedure is scheduled for July 7th.

My outfit today was, of course all thrift. However, the headband came from Dollar Tree. My shoes are old -- like over ten years old. They are thrifted Enzo Angiolini. Because I don't wear shoes day in and day out, and because I switch things up, what I do have generally lasts a long time. One reason I don't follow trends and keep up with new fashions, is I wear things for years and thus I don't need to worry that they go out of style.

Being able to eat lunch with Tommy on the patio is so wonderful and so far, my favorite part of his retirement. This bowl is leftover stuff from our salmon dinner last night, mixed with cherry tomatoes that had to be consumed today, plus orzo.  It's tossed with a balsamic vinegar glaze and parmesan cheese. I served it cold.

My accounting of the day is a bit lame, because it was a lot of the same stuff I usually do. I mopped, did laundry, and made ice cream.  Frankie got a few walks but is pretty wrung out from vaccines. There are a few more chores left to do, the bathroom has been cleaned, and I sanded down the table for outside. Tomorrow, I plan on spending time on my painting, want to paint the table, and also *must* swim.

I hope you had a terrific Tuesday and will have a wonderful Wednesday! Anything good planned?

    1. Thank you Kath! I don't often wear reds, but I liked this combo.

  2. I'm a big fan of those earthy neutral tones on you. As the fabulously wise Quentin Crisp once said, "Fashion is for people who don't know who they are".
I hope the swimming goes to plan.
Today's plan is taking the tortoise to the vet (long story), more festival prep and seeing the new Wes Anderson film at the cinema. xxx

  3. I have just found your blog and your photo of yourself is lovely and the colours are ones I like too. My day has been spent doing some laundry, icing a carrot cake I made yesterday and packing to go away for a long week end in our caravan. Hope you have a good week.

    1. I can't wait to see how your cabinets turn out. My bestie had hers refaced and the difference was amazing. I am able to make the ice cream easy because I have the Ninja Creami. It wasn't cheap, but it does a nice job!

  5. I love your outfit and having coffee and breakfast with your Hubby Tommy every day is a big plus. Hmmm, I need to pull out my ice cream maker as well. I have always loved homemade ice cream and sorbet.

    God bless.

    1. I love having Tommy home for many reasons. But he is also the earliest of risers, which means he'll empty the dishwasher! Today he brought me coffee cake...
