Plum, Purple, and Pink

I think I'll lead off with my girl. She is loving daddy's retirement. Getting more exercise has helped calm her down. Brittanys are busy dogs, and she is hyper vigilant about everything. Walking a couple of miles at the break of dawn everyday takes the edge off of her activity level. Hopefully her spay next month will lower her voltage too. I can't even begin to explain how obnoxious she was as a puppy.

This was my project for the day. I got a call for help this morning and was happy to assist. This is the young lady I thrift for (she is wearing a dress I found). She wanted to color her hair and needed someone to apply the dye. We started with dark plum on her roots, purple in the middle (transitioning over blond), and pink on the ends. After the rinse, I did a quick trim. I would've like to spend more time cutting, but she had an appointment to get to. She seems to be happy with the result.

I stopped at Price Rite on the way home because I needed red onions, grape tomatoes, and feta cheese for salad tonight. While I was there, I checked for marked down salmon and scored three trays. There was one package on the top of the pile, but I dug to hopefully find others and discovered two more. No other store has marked down salmon, so I am planning to check here once a week. Now that Tommy no longer works a parking lot away from Walmart, I will go back to shopping more at Price Rite. The prices are better for sure. The tomatoes were 25 cents cheaper (normally 75 cents less), and the cheese is two dollars cheaper -- for the same eight ounces (different brand)! Walmart claims to have the best prices, but that is not always the case. Especially with produce and cheese.

Dinner was pizza made from the sausage and mushroom sauce I made yesterday. The cheese is fresh mozzarella from FlashFood which I had in the freezer. Our salad was romaine, tomato, onion, cucumber and Caesar dressing.

The nice thing about retirement is that I can have a full day, without having to make any plans. The only thing I knew this morning, was that I was going to make pizza for dinner tonight. The rest just happened. Are you serendipitously busy too? Or do you plan every day down to the detail?

  1. I don’t plan my days down to the last detail. I’m more of a go with the flow and when I get to it, I will, kind of person. The hair color on your friend turn out fantastic! Great deal on the salmon. Sounds like Frankie is enjoying his walks. 💕

    1. I am planning less and less now that Tommy is retired. I don't feel as obligated to "work" in the house now that he's not working at a job. Frankie loves walkies!

  2. Is Frankie getting more vigilant as she matures? Our generally uber friendly relaxed Cavapoo has become more a defender of his home now that he is 3 1/2. Great job on the hair dying and she looks happy. I start the day with intentions to get specific things done but generally not too much. A working lifetime of deadlines and raising kids though was quite different as there was little free time.

    1. You are right, her vigilance is increasing with age. One reason I am spaying her, is so she can spend time at daycare this week and continue to be comfortable around other dogs. As a retired project manager, I used to track everything I did at home. But that's kinda stopped now that Tommy is retired and we are both home.

  3. Frankie is so beautiful, and I think she know it. You did awesome work dying and cutting your friends hair. I still plan my days, probably more than I should as there is always something left to do most days and I need to carry them over to the next day.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you, Jackie. I told my girl that if I was going to dye her hair, I was going to cut it -- I have those expensive grooming shears so they need to be put to use. I groom Frankie and I cut trim pink hair!

  4. I second (um, fourth?) the thumbs up on your friend's hair.
When Rudy was a puppy, he thought Rudy was his middle name, because it was always preceded by a certain naughty word. Oh so obnoxious (typical JR). I would tell him, "It's a good thing you're so cute." :)

    1. I was pleased with the results, so thank you Kath. When Frankie is not being her best self, I call her Frances. As a puppy, we often referred to her as FFF -- Freakin' F'in Frankie. She could be sooooo bad!
