Dressed to Protest!

I was perfectly attired for today's No Kings event. The weather couldn't have been more perfect -- finally a dry day for a rally! My sign is from an earlier demonstration. That one was rainy, windy, and very, very cold. There were many great signs on display.

Anticipating a large crowd, we arrived early. This was the area about 20 minutes before the scheduled start. At first, I didn't think they would hold anything in Buffalo, because there were other major happenings. The demand was there, so one was organized a few weeks ago, and our start time was later than other cities. Ours kicked off at 4PM.

45 minutes later, this is the full view around me. And I was only in one section of Niagara Square -- and the crowd grew. My estimate is that we had five to six thousand participants. It was amazing!

There were only three arrests that I saw. All were Trump supporters, and all were menacing in their cars or on motorcycle. Toward the end, about five or six kids were waving flags from the top of a parking garage, but they were dispersed. There was also one young man (probably still living with his parents) decked out in full-on DOGE, telling us all we needed to calm down. He was alone, and I don't think he accomplished his objective. Being the polite lady I am, I called him a f'in A-Hole to his face.

I would feel remiss if I did not attend and speak up. Still, my friends are staying home. I ended up standing with a lady I'd met at another protest, and she was happy to meet Tommy this time. He is also committed to going when he is in town. His sister also went to one where she is along with her son and his girlfriend.

Finally, today is Frankie's birthday, but I have informed her she must be celebrated tomorrow. It pains me greatly that she shares the same birthday as the big orange idiot!

  1. Oh, poor little Frankie! I am sure she is unhappy sharing her birthday with him too. :)

So pleased that you got to the protest today! I didn't get to go to today's protest in the city. We were scheduled to have our weekly family supper, but it got rescheduled at the last minute to tomorrow, and I didn't have time to make my sign and get to city, find parking, etc. A friend did send me photo of her and her husband, so I was happy they went.

  2. What a turnout! And it happened all over the country. Chattanooga had a big turnout too. The signs were fabulous, such as the one that said “no crowns for clowns”. 😆 🤡

    1. I was happy to see the Pope had a good turn-out too. Looks as though the event in D.C. was a dud!

  3. Poor Frankie. I am glad you decided to celebrate the birthday a day later. I have heard that the turnouts throughout your country were awesome. I saw a picture on Facebook of a lady protesting 700 km north of Anchorage all by her self. Seems her and her husband are the only people in miles who reside there. She said she got friendly waves and thumbs up. God bless you all for standing up to the orange menace.

    God bless.

    1. I think the small protests are as important as the big ones. It shows that there is dissention everywhere. There was a small group in front of an assisted living facility that got coverage too. All sorts of people are speaking up and it all counts!
