Another Little Day at Home

My day started with sourdough toast (homemade), jam, and coffee.  Not a big meal, but a nice way to start things out.

I took a couple of extra minutes to get lemons out of their netted bag, tomatoes out of their plastic container, and set everything up on the island in a pleasing way.  It's amazing how getting rid of packaging helps make your kitchen look brighter.  This was a utilitarian arrangement -- not heavy on style at all. But definitely an improvement.

I decided to mix my new necklace in with my casual sterling silver.  My sole outing was to give Frankie an afternoon walk. We did visit with neighbors briefly.  While my gold necklace really was a splurge, the rest of what I wore was inexpensive -- and I am happy with how it all coordinates. I have a clasp adapter that lets me put on three different chains, spaces them out, and keeps them from getting tangled.

I finished my sign for tomorrow's protest. Tommy's car is still in for repair, but we expect it to be fixed tomorrow.  My plan is to take the bus downtown, as the Elmwood #20 route has a stop at the end of my block, and drops me one block away from the Delaware North headquarters, where the Buffalo event is taking place.  I don't have much of a gripe with DN -- although they've donated plenty to the Orange idiot, they have also given to both parties.  The theme is about billionaires and workers. My gripe is that the rich, like DJT, have time to golf, travel, take trips on commercial "space" flights -- while most Americans are working hard, earning low wages, and they are the ones that keep this Country going. The wealthy do not deserve tax breaks.  They aren't losing jobs and services.  They should be more empathetic for the workers that make their riches possible. After this, I hope big business and billionaires think better than donating and feeding money through shady tools like crypto to the criminal running our country.  Are there any events near you tomorrow?

I made risotto for dinner -- shrimp, peas, and lupini beans. The flatbread is actually pizza dough. It was $1.24 on Flashfood, and tasted better than bakery bread because it was fresh out of the oven.  The stock I used was from scratch. It was a healthy meal!

The last few days have been kind of boring -- which I have really enjoyed! Do you enjoy staying at home more than getting out and around?

  1. I love staying at home, especially as the heat and humidity are starting to pick up here.

When I looked last week, I didn't see any protests near me. Your question made me look again, and I see there is one in our county seat. Unfortunately I have committed to going to a dem mtg in another part of town at the exact same time. Poor planning that they are competing.

    1. I had to check and double check to find and confirm the event. That is hard so I get why you missed yours. If I had my choice, I would stay home every day!

  2. I love your banner and completely agree with the sentiments behind it. I had no idea about those necklace spacers, what a great idea they are.
When Lockdown happened I (and everyone who knew me) thought I'd go mad being confined to home and it surprised everyone when I didn't - in fact I thrived.
Even if I have no plans I always go for a walk or a run, I've got too much energy and am like a caged tiger if I'm indoors for too long! x

    1. I only did one side on my sign -- once I got there, I wished I had done two!

The necklace spacers work well, but the ones I have are a pain. They have clasps and hooks on opposite sides of a single bar. It would be far easier, if they were in two separate pieces, with a single hook to attach both sides.

Wouldn't it be grand to have a pool at home?

  3. I like staying home unless it is forced upon me like when my car is in the shop. 😂 Your risotto looks delicious. I like your sign too, good plan on taking the bus.

    1. Mine was a little forced, which does make for frustration when you think you'll just zip out and get something, then remember you can't! There was one portion of risotto left, which I reserved for Tommy rather than eating it myself, because he loves risotto. I really should make it more often!

  4. I love, love, love staying home... sadly I have to leave the home way to often these days! Your kitchen counter looks lovely with everything laid out... the sign is perfect! I hope the protests are making a difference... xx

    1. So many people I know don't get the whole wanting to stay at home thing. But my sister-in-law just retired, and my nephew tells me she stays home and cleans and cleans. He wanted to know how long that would last. I told him she was entering the nesting phase of her life. We need to assemble an arsenal of reasons for staying at home!

  5. Love the banner. I hope there was a good turn out today.

I love staying home and only going out when I want to, though this month I have a few appointments so will be out more than I really like.

    God bless.

    1. I hate making appointments because that means I am obligated to go to them! My favorite month, is any month without and appointment!
