Easy Goes Awry
I really did want an easy day for myself, since it was a pool (and sauna) day. Today I wore a combo of thrifted items which I've shown a number of times. The jacket wasn't thrifted, but I grabbed it because it was priced below thrift store equivalents. There are Chicos outlet stores around and while I don't shop them a lot, one rainy day found me at an outlet mall, and I found this jacket.
Today was finally the day to bake my sour dough. The only reason it's a little flat, is that lidded pan I've been baking dough in, wasn't quite large enough. But this rose plenty, and the slices will be big enough for sandwiches. We'll be ready to eat it tomorrow. There's the crusty white loaf from Sunday still to be finished.
CVS had a prescription refill ready, and I decided to go into the store for it, rather than use the drive-in window. Turns out I had Extra Care Bucks. When that happens, I shop the store for discontinued items. I found a pet item that we will actually use. Frankie's eyes get a little crusty in the spring, and when she eats chicken. It's not a full-blown allergy, and she loves chicken. So, we feed it, and I just wipe her eyes.
Soup was the plan for tonight, which meant making stock from the chicken carcass. Once I pulled out the meat, bones, and veggies, I used them to make oatmeal for Frankie. She gets a portion for lunch every day. This batch will be more glop, and less oatmeal -- and she will love it! I mix my stock/broth with a box from the supermarket. I got the boxes on sale for $1.49. But their idea of low sodium is 18% -- which is way above the 10% threshold I have set for us. If I make my own and use no salt, then mix in equal parts of the boxed stock, we end up at 9% -- just fine by me!
I also fit in a quick Flashfood trip. One of the stores had cans of Maxwell House coffee for $3.69 each. Tariffs and coffee are not an economical combination. So, this will be part of my tariff larder. The cheese was a good deal and is now in my filled to capacity freezer. But we love mozzarella pearls in salads in the summer. The potatoes make for a great breakfast or carbs in dog food.
I also fit in a basket of laundry. While I really wanted to take it easy today, my day ended up chock full! Do you ever succeed in having an easy day?
I do like the colour of that jacket on you.
ReplyDeleteFrankie begging for food is so sweet!
It's just gone 8am here and I've done all my tasks for the day as well as squeezed in a 2 mile run and 10 minutes of toga. I think I might treat myself to a charity shop trip! xxx
Yoga not toga!!!
DeleteI was wondering if you had a new sport! You know, I used to stay away from that color. When I was younger, I had horrible adult acne, and that color just called attention to it. Now that's not an issue and I find myself wearing it more and more.
DeleteI wish I could be done in the morning!
