Our Small Holiday

I've had the material I selected for Easter for over a month but just got around to sewing the edges on Saturday. This year I played up the gold -- matching the glassware to the gold elements in the fabric. I have a yard or so left and might sew napkins. But that's a project for another time!

Frankie got a bath but not a groom. I really need to work on that! But she doesn't think so...

I decided to wear purple to go with my table color. Nothing fancy, as this was a cozy event. Turns out Tommy wore a purple top too!

My friend Jim joined us with his daughter Margaux, who I have nick-named Gaux-Gaux (almost immediately, at her birth).  She is the young lady I buy clothes for. I am helping to build her work wardrobe.

Placing the serving plates on the island kept the table clear.  I should've cleaned up the space first, but everything came together so fast!

We had a great meal. Tommy's pork was delicious, and my sides worked out just fine.  Dessert was ice cream and cookies.

The covers went back on the couch once everyone went home. But I was able to pair the actual upholstery with my new pillow covers. I think they match well.

I re-wore the t-shirt from yesterday but put the leggings and sweater away for another day.  The weather today was not great, so all I did was walk Frankie and pick up things around the house.

After doing a load of laundry, I tried on the dress I found last week at Amvets.  I wasn't sure about the size because it's larger than what I usually wear. However, that is often the case with an older piece. Plus, size is just a number! The main thing is it goes with what Tommy will wear at the wedding we are going to.  That was my main goal.

I was able to make a stew using the cut-up remains of yesterday's tenderloin.  The uncut portion will be dinner tomorrow night.  I save sauces and marinades, and I buy strange flavor spreads and sauces -- so I can make dinners like I did tonight.  This was a tasty stew made from ingredients I had on hand -- mostly made from scratch.

We rarely eat the same holiday meal again and again. Thanksgiving may be the one exception. I usually take what remains and create entirely new dishes.  Did you have a lot of leftovers? If so, what are you doing with them?

  1. Poor Frankie! Our last Jack Russell (Fergus) loved his bath, and was so good about getting his eyedrops. Anything we wanted, he was willing. This Jack Russell (Rudy)...not so much. LOL

    1. Frankie appreciates your sympathy! Of all our dogs, she is the least cooperative with bathing. I had desensitized her back during the height of her show career, but she is no longer good about it.

  2. Frankie does not look enthused after his bath, but looks contented on the sofa. Your meal looks wonderful and the table setting perfect. Lots of leftovers here, even after sending some home with Kris.

    God bless.

    1. I bet Kris was happy to have food to take back home! Frankie loves being on the sofa -- and especially with guests. Glad you had a great day!

  3. I'm glad you had a lovely day, your table looks very pretty as does Frankie. Your outfit is fab and I love your friend's rainbow cardi. Now you've shared a photo I can visualise her in the clothes you find her!
    I really like Tommy's Madras blazer. x
