Back to the Normal Stuff
It was a black, white, and gray wardrobe day with silver jewelry. Everything I wore was thrifted except the white t-shirt. When I wanted some, there hadn't been any plain white ones around. Of course, after I purchased a few, I started finding them. That's how the thrifting universe works! But these were just three bucks each anyway.
I coordinated my hydration too! Re-using salad dressing bottles is one of my favorite ways to go. The Mackenzie-Childs koozy gives it a chic vibe. I got a set of two on clearance for $7.50. And I lost one of them! But since MC is so expensive, I only buy on sale.
It was a really good Flashfood day. The squash, carrots, and potatoes will be used in dinners this week. We were out of sunflower seeds, so I was happy to find them marked down. Our tariff stockpile will be where the olives live, and the peirogi will be in the freezer, along with two of the packages of cheese. It's also fortunate that two major flavors I use in iced tea, are lemon and ginger. If we had more space, I would have ordered more than two boxes.
I ordered more calcium because it is not made in the US and is something we go through at a good clip. I found a better deal than what I'd been buying. These two containers will take care of Frankie's food for months. It's so nice that I found them -- and the delivery is free because I am a Walmart + member.
Even though the days of 99 cent tags are gone, I decided to shop the Salvation Army. I had 15 bucks to play with and spent $13.58. Tommy wasn't sure he would fit in the slacks -- but he did! I am thinking he might wear them well with a J. Crew madras blazer I found at their Outlet store years ago, back before I was a thrift shopper and thought I was good at finding sales -- and that made me a thrifty shopper. Now I rarely venture into even an outlet store. My goal has been to find more dresses for summer and now I am two further along for that goal.
The large tray of chicken thighs I bought yesterday have all been cooked. I have the bones for stock. Everything on our plate tonight was a bargain. There's some crumbled honey goat cheese under the chicken skin that was also Flashfood. The chicken was marinated in Thousand Island and Greek dressing also from Flashfood. I tossed the squash in the rest of the marinate and roasted it all in the same dish. The drippings will add a lot of good flavor to the stock I am planning to make.
Many thanks to all who have supported my protest efforts. There is another mass day of protest planned for Saturday, April 19th -- and I am already planning my sign. Swearin' Karen will probably be using the "S" word for that one...
I like your reuse of the salad dressing bottle for a water vessel. I like the MC koozie too. I’ve watched a MC teapot for years as I find it a beautiful pattern. I make my own tea like that too and add it to my protein drinks. Some people do coffee in theirs, but I’m a tea girl. We went thrifting yesterday and found quite a bit. No clothes though as this particular Goodwill has expensive clothes.
ReplyDeleteI love the Courtly Check kettles. But they are too expensive! I have a nice Le Creuset, which was four dollars at a thrift, so I have that to help fight the temptation to splurge!
DeleteThat's a clever idea to reuse your bottles for water and the cosies are very fancy!
ReplyDeleteBeing a Brit, my tea is always served piping hot although I love an iced coffee when I'm in Greece.
Those silvery colours look great on you! xxx
Thank you! I am a hot coffee drinker in the morning, and iced tea during the day -- but only once the weather starts to warm up. However, if I am at all ill or not feeling well, only tea will do!
DeleteLove your black/white/silver look. Good idea on using those bottles from the salad dressing for your hydration water.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jakie! I especially like it when the bottles have a metal cap. They won't break...
