No Fooling Today!
Happy April Fool's Day to all! I had no pranks to pull today, just some of the usual stuff and a little bit of a treat too. My day started off with a breakfast made with a small portion of potatoes in the refrigerator. I did warm the potatoes up in the pan first, then took them out, fried the egg, and put them back in with some cheese. Quite tasty!
I used to think it was wasteful to use gift bags because they cost more than paper -- but they are re-usable and I suspect most bags I receive have had a prior giving experience. Not only do I save the bags, but the tissue too. Maybe I can start sewing sacks for future gifts too. I have enough scrap fabric!
Frankie and I walked in the cemetery today. Once home, I heard that a huge number of public health workers were fired today. The future of public health is in danger. I think back to major epidemic or health challenges when I walk in the cemetery. You see a lot of common years for death, then if you look up what was killing people that year, you see epidemics and other conditions came in waves. The infant mortality rates early in the past century were so high. With measles coming back, I hope people start to realize the power of proven preventives.
Today my young lady (the one who I buy clothes for), took me out for an early bird old person dinner. We enjoyed a delicious meal of Vietnamese food, which I love. One of the best things about attracting immigrants to your country, is that they open restaurants! From now on, I am making an effort to support businesses that are immigrant or ethnically owned.
My Flashfood order today, was primarily made to buy bagels as part of a bag of goodies for my girl. I had a top and scarf for her, and I always like to provide a little food. The chicken strips aren't the most economical purchase, but I can keep them in the freezer. Tommy can pull a few slices out each day for lunch when he wants to have a salad. I do buy these when Frankie and I travel for dog shows. They make good bait for holding her attention in the ring. But for the most part, $5 for eight ounces is way too much -- even for convenience.
I did manage to get a little bit of housework in, but mainly I was focused on going out for a meal with one of my favorite humans. It is a bonus that the election race Mr. M*sk spent so much money on in Wisconsin was a loss for him. Those rallies are making a difference!
I haven’t checked the news yet this morning so you brought me good news that Musk didn’t get his way in Wisconsin! Our dog, Coco, has decided opinions about the route to take on his walks but mostly wants to go out and greet people.
ReplyDeleteAnd I bet, like Frankie, he is totally confused when someone doesn't want to meet him!
DeleteYou know, I always save the tissue paper too! Have a cozy evening!
ReplyDeleteTotally worth it, thank you!
DeleteI have been making bags from my scrap fabric for awhile, and now I am thinking perhaps I could make some with my yarn after I have wove it into fabric.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Great idea!
DeleteSO happy that he wasted his money!
ReplyDeleteI'm eternally grateful to our diverse population, I'd probably have died of starvation if I'd only got English food to eat ! As the lyrics in one of my favourite Bob Vylan songs, He's A Man say: "Love's a chicken korma, but hates the hands that cook it" xxx
