Two, Maybe Three Today

Not much to report today! Frankie needed a bath so badly, and I had been neglecting her upkeep.  I spent over three hours grooming her, and I just did enough for it to be considered done. She does not like the process and doesn't make it easy.  Also, I am not very good at it, so everything takes me longer.  But it was my major accomplishment for the day.  I did also have to wash towels and my grooming apron.  Lots of hair!  Since it rained all day, there was no reason to go out anyway.

I made a cheap dinner.  The butternut squash ravioli was from Flashfood.  The shrimp and spinach, Walmart. I marinated the shrimp in lite Greek dressing -- also Flashfood.  Shrimp isn't inexpensive, but a large bag will yield many meals. Plus, it's just so convenient.  I really didn't know what to make for dinner and this came together in about ten minutes. I sauteed the shrimp in dressing, olive oil, and butter.  I spiced it with lemon pepper and basil, topped it with asiago cheese.  It was really good!

If I paid for Frankie to be groomed, it would probably be around $75. I also probably wouldn't get what I wanted.  Most salons just use clippers and shave down fur.  That's not for us -- it would ruin her coat.  So I spend quite a lot of time scissoring away.  Do you groom your dog?  If you have it done, how much does it cost?  I am not very good at it but will always do it myself.  Unless I have the good luck to have another Brittany person do it for a show.  But we don't plan to show much this summer (if at all).  However, I can't stand it when her coat gets unruly.

We don't eat out much because it's so expensive -- and since we get good deals on food, it makes more sense to cook at home!

  1. Frankie looks fantastic! I've never had a dog and know nothing about them. Our neighbours have a Cockerpoo called Rocco who is visited by a mobile dog grooming van every few weeks, he always looks lovely and has a very cool Barbour waxed jacket (the dog, not the groomer!) x

    1. Thank you! I have had to hone my skill handling her grooming, and it's always scary when I start... I do love dressing her up, but she's got an unusual build, so nothing fits properly.

  2. Frankie is a very good dog to let you groom for 3 hours (Or rather you have trained well). I get our Cavapoo groomed about every 8 weeks at Petco and it is about $120 depending on matting. He is considered a medium size dog so that is the price.

  3. Thank you Juhli. I think your price is more realistic for what I'd pay. Frankie would be considered a "designer cut," and those are a lot more expensive. I guess she's stuck with me!
