Shoe on the Other Foot

I went to a Republican Roundtable this morning, curious to see where the party stands at this point.  Being a registered Republican, I thought maybe I could see how the party was dealing with the current political and social climate.  Turns out, they are thrilled.  They don't want to change a thing.  The only candidates being proposed are politicians I can't stand. The push is for DOGE and MAGA.  There is no room for a moderate like me.  And I will say that I am not a huge AOC or Bernie fan either -- they are crushing it in public rallies across the country.  I don't even agree with every position at the protests I attend. I sure don't like what the Administration is doing but addressing it through the Republican party is a dead end. So, I won't be attending any more of these meetings.  It was a small group of maybe 50 people, none of the energy of their opposition, whom they totally deride. We are screwed.

The Italian shoes I found to go with the dress I am wearing to a wedding next month were a little big. Using an insole solved that problem. My hope was to find a way to include my arch supports so my knees wouldn't hurt at the end of the event. It was not the most elegant of solutions, but I think it will work!

I had walked past this rack on the curb a few times this week. We have a larger size in our basement, and it came from Aldi. It comes with a plastic cover, which was also intact -- but I did not want it.  The metal had no rust. So, I picked it up yesterday and carried it home. We got some rain today, which washed some cobwebs off, and Tommy cleaned it some more.  The plan is to keep paper towels and toilet paper, plus other light stuff, on it.  We don't use much in the way of paper products, so my inventory gets stored for a longer period of time.  One goal is to declutter and re-organize the basement in the next month or so.

Dinner was yummy and came in at about three or four dollars for the two of us. There is another half sleeve of pasta, one large, and one medium jar of sauce.  The bread is gone, so I will have to feed more starter tonight.  Chili is in our future with some of the sauce, and probably a pizza too.

My day got off to a disappointing start, but it finished just fine!

  1. That is an interesting rack. Was it marketed for indoor or outdoor use? The plastic cover has me wondering. Great curbside find.

    1. It's for growing/starting plants outside, which is what the plastic cover was for. I thought it would be a great storage shelf. Even if it isn't for anything really heavy. It works!

    1. I have been using the larger version I bought as storage in the basement. It was great to find another!

  3. I had a rack like that to grow herbs on our deck. The plastic cover kept the bugs out and acted like a mini green house.

    God bless.

    1. I remember seeing it on the upper porch where it was set out on the curb. The person must've moved out and thrown it away. I am glad it was there and light enough to carry a few blocks.

  4. We had something similar when we were growing edibles during lockdown, that's a great repurpose! x
