Warning: F-Word Ahead!

The "Hands Off" protest in Buffalo, NY was a resounding success.  While I attend the local events alone (friends always have an excuse not to go), it's not hard to meet someone to hang out with.  I met Marysusan and we had a blast!  The evening news reported three thousand, but when Tommy came to pick me up, he swore it was at least double that.  I have never seen so many people gathered downtown in the entire thirty years we've lived here.

My signs are always two-sided.  This is the civilize side.  I wore a red dress because that is the color of the Republican party.  And that is the party I am registered to. Since it was a soggy gray day, my best footwear option were garden boots.  Luckily, the blue and white stripes fell into a patriotic vibe.

I dressed like a lady because my sign was absolutely uncivilized.  There were so many Fuck Joe Biden signs during the past administration, and the people wielding them were usually quite rude.  My feeling is that the opposition has been far to genteel.  Protesting with politeness can't match the insane crassness I've seen from the other side. I decided to go tit for tat.  But my sensibilities told me that if I was going to talk like a Tr*mper, I should at least dress like a Republican lady. So I wore full make-up, a thrifted Ivanka Trump red dress, white Talbots jacket, and a thrifted white hat with a "Swearin' Karen" heart affixed.  And since all of the conservative news anchors are blond, I wore a blond wig.

Tommy was uncomfortable about this, afraid I would be criticized or asked not to carry my sign. I had no such fears!  In fact, I met so many people because of my sign, and was asked to have my picture taken more times than I can remember. Lots of compliments!  At the end the protest cleared to march, but I wasn't aware of that because Marysusan and I were so busy gabbing.  So I took off to the spot I planned to meet Tommy.  He was walking Frankie down at the harbor while I was doing my peaceful civic duty, then drove over to pick me up.

Turns out the crowd came down the street I was standing at.  I got rounds and rounds of cheers for my sign.  Tommy had to wait because the road was blocked.  He was astounded by the size, and while we waited a good 15 minutes for the street to clear, the march just kept going with no end in sight.  We finally took a u-turn and headed home.

My crowd pictures were taken early.  The mass you see gathered at this circle doubled.  Five cars of M@GA people drove around the circle, being rude and smug. But after about three rounds, the police wouldn't let them back around.  If they were really brave, I don't think they would have needed to stay in their trucks.  That being said, they were outnumbered by a hundreds and hundreds and hundreds.

After the march, I got out of my get-up and went out to do some pre-tariff shopping. So much of what I cook with is imported.  I stocked up on oils, pasta, canned fish, chocolate, coffee, and Mexican sauce (sazon). While I was at Tops, I checked the manager's special endcap.  I was so psyched to find Lipini beans, which are not easy to find -- and are not cheap.  I grabbed them all.  There was also white clam sauce.  I grabbed all of that too.

We love Cotes du Rhone wine, so I planned to stock up.  We had a $15 off $100 coupon, so I picked up nine bottles. Montepulciano is my go-to pairing for pizza and pasta, so that was part of the haul. In honor of Vix,  I decided to try a red Campo Viejo.  We have enjoyed the white version with salmon, but had not sampled the red. It's from Spain.

Saturday dinner was salmon topped with a homemade citrus spread.  My sister dropped off asparagus and potatoes, which became the side.

Today I went to Ollie's to pick up HBA items.  We needed bodywash and I wanted to pick up other things we would be using (more shampoo, tea, canned salmon, etc.).  While we are pretty well stocked, I am very nervous and scared.  The drop in the stock market is so bad for us.  We have lost so much and need to draw from it too.  Tommy will not continue working because of it, because his job has become so difficult with the market and import uncertainty.

With such a horrible environment, I couldn't not stand up and let our leaders in Washington know what I think.  Especially the big orange turd who is doing it all to us.  My sign said it all.

    1. Thank you! And I think I need the rush of the activities to help counteract the despair of the tens of thousands of dollars being lost from our retirement funds. We have another in 2 weeks, and I am already planning another sign. I think it will involve and orange poop emoji...

  8. Well done. I have been watching all the marches over and over again, I just hope they can get bigger. We have lost lots in our investments as well, ever since the idiot who really does not understand tariffs became president.

    God bless.

    1. How sad we can commiserate on this. I keep scrolling through the various accounts and pictures of the many rallies. This is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger. I wonder how the Republicans will be able to campaign if they won't even hold a town hall and are hiding from crowds. I think these protests are working!
