The Suburban Housewife Strikes Again
Thank you for all those nice compliments on my white outfit! I did a slight variation today -- my leggings are cotton denim-style. I got them from a Walgreens store that was closing. If I see these for under five bucks, I buy them. The vest was from the church store in Ballston, and the shirt was a 99 cent Salvation Army find. I am getting a lot of wear out of my two-dollar G.H. Bass garage sale shoes.
My bestie has an extra piercing in her left earlobe. I always give her my orphan earrings (when I lose half of the pair). It's not uncommon for me to give her small studs for birthdays and Christmas. Getting a card of small silver studs for around $8 was a great find -- and part of the gift I planned for her birthday this year. Then a few weeks ago, she mentioned she was taking the diamond from her original engagement ring (she is now wearing her mother's) and making it into a stud for her extra hole. She would be wearing it all of the time. That meant she wouldn't need or want any others. So, I kept them for myself! I will take these out for swimming, since they will tarnish in pool water. But for days I am too lazy to pick daily combinations, these can just stay in place. It's hard for me to go for very long without earrings!
It was a good thrifting day. I have been looking for a more formal navy dress to wear to a wedding next month. I paid full thrift price for the one I found. It is a size bigger than I normally wear, but when I held it up against my body, it seemed right. The shoes are a bit large, but I want to try to put in a padded insole and arch support for comfort. These are a very nicely made vintage Italian pair. The heels are really well-made stacked wood.
I plan to wear the denim jacket with an iron-on upside down flag patch at protests. I don't usually buy fast fashion, but this ZARA piece will get worn. I might eventually use different buttons. As for those chairs, aren't they wild? If I had the money or talent to re-upholster, they might have come home with me. But realistically, we have nowhere to put them. But I loved them!!!
You found some terrific items thrifting! I love the Italian shoes and what a great price. I like those chairs too with the high backs. I like looking at the furniture at thrift stores. We know a man who will move furniture rather inexpensively and use him when we want to bring a piece home with us. I used him to move a free desk I got off of Craigslist and I use it every day. Your pizza looks delicious and you can’t beat having leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for Italian shoes, but don't always know that I am buying the right size. But I think I can deal with the extra room with inserts and maybe shortening the strap a bit. We'll see.
DeleteMy first house was twice the size as where we are now. I used to love finding furniture in thrift stores. I wish I had more room!
Just finished deviled eggs, not as pretty as I had hoped. LOL Also just took cake out of oven, and waiting for it to cool so I can frost and decorate.
ReplyDeleteThe way your eggs taste is more important than how pretty they are! I was going to bake a cake, but then I saw cookies on Flashfood. At least my ice cream will be homemade!
DeletePhew! Just catching up! That denim blazer is great and despite Zara being fast fashion as long as you buy it second hand you're not f*cking up the planet. It's one of the few modern day brands that make cool clothing for all ages, shapes and genders.
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous in white again! xxx
