Flour Power

Today was not a big day for me. Down to only one car, my day was spent inside getting some laundry done and working on a small task I sort of dreamt up on the fly.  I reorganized my flour shelf.

These green keeping containers are treated to allegedly help fruits, veggies, etc. stay fresh longer by controlling off-gassing.  Not only don't they work super well, but they also don't stack/nest -- and take up too much space when not in use.  I decided to use them to store flour.  Maybe it will improve the shelf life. The main thing is they will stack better than paper sacks.

I solved two problems. Put empty containers to use, freeing up space from where they were stored, and improving the organization of another shelf.

Not a big win, or a huge project, but the type of thing I wouldn't normally stop to do if I could get out of the house.

  2. I keep mine in old Tupperware containers. Sure makes it easier to scoop and makes less mess. Good use of what you have.

    1. Thanks Juhli. I spill a lot of flour out of the paper bags, which never open cleanly, and always end up torn and spreading white dust all over the place.

  3. Only you could have a flour shelf!! We only have gram and plain flour in the cupboard, both are kept in 1970s orange Tupperware containers. x
